Holy arrived in Canada in January 2011 as an international student at the International College of Manitoba, where he completed a university transfer program before earning a degree in Economics and Statistics from the University of Manitoba. His academic excellence earned him a scholarship to pursue a Master’s in Economics at Simon Fraser University.
Since completing his graduate studies, Holy has dedicated his career to teaching economics at various colleges. With over a decade of experience mentoring international students, he has been a guiding force in their academic and professional journeys since 2012. Driven by his passion for helping students succeed in Canada, Holy founded ISSF.
Outside of his professional and philanthropic work, Holy enjoys staying active by playing soccer, basketball, and tennis.
Dr Bervelyn moved to Canada from England in 2008 and quickly embraced the journey of adapting to a new environment.
She earned a Bachelor of Science at UBC-Okanagan and later a Doctorate in Dental Medicine at UBC. One of the biggest challenges she faced was settling into the Canadian education system and making new connections, but through perseverance and determination, she was able to navigate and succeed in her studies. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, practicing yoga, and exploring new restaurants.
Today, she practices as a dentist in the Lower Mainland, combining her passion for healthcare with her commitment to helping others. Her journey as an international student has shaped her perspective, and she’s eager to support and uplift those on a similar path.
Raphael Okoye, Program Director
Raphael Okoye is a Senior Analytics Solutions Engineer at WorkSafeBC. He came to Canada on January 1, 2024, and has since established himself as a dedicated professional with a passion for continuous learning and personal growth.
Raphael earned his Master of Science degree in Physics from Simon Fraser University (SFU). During his graduate studies, one of the biggest challenges he overcame was learning how to connect with the right people and build meaningful relationships that support a successful career. Through networking with mentors already in the workforce, he gained valuable insights and direction that helped him transition smoothly into his current role.
Outside of work, Raphael enjoys watching TV shows and exploring new ways to generate income.
Dr. Denis Dogah, Director of Operations
Dr. Denis Dogah is a higher education professional based in Vancouver, BC, with a passion for supporting international students in their academic and social transitions. Beyond his professional work, Dr. Dogah enjoys staying active at the gym, cooking, and engaging with others in his community.
Originally from Ghana, Dr. Dogah moved to Canada in 2010 to pursue a Master’s degree in Politics and International Relations at Brock University in Ontario. He later earned a Ph.D. in International Relations and Comparative Development from Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, BC.
Having firsthand experience navigating the challenges of studying abroad, Dr. Dogah is a strong advocate for international students. He actively supports the ISSF.
Ella Oduro, Students Support Coordinator
Meet Ella! Born in Ghana and raised in England. Ella moved to Canada at a young age and has since embraced both academic and personal growth. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and is currently pursuing her medical degree at UBC.
Beyond her studies, Ella enjoys staying active with volleyball, expressing her creativity through crocheting, and cooking.
Navigating the challenges of a rigorous academic path and adapting to a new education system has strengthened her resilience and passion for healthcare.
As she continues her journey in medicine, Ella looks forward to making a meaningful impact and supporting others along the way.
